The goals of the Association are to:
- Develop an organization with a broad membership from all segments of the community with an interest in science education.
- Seek support and funding for the various activities of the organization.
- Design,promote and implement conferences,workshops and meetings for science educators.
- Establish a communication network among science educators to facilitate the sharing of information such as current events,new discoveries,career opportunities and awareness of resources available in the community.
- Promote recognition and awards for excellence by science educators and supporters of science education.
- Encourage new opportunities for student achievement in science beyond formal classroom activities.
- Provide support to legislative proposals and efforts by local governing bodies which are attempting to strengthen science education.
- Foster closer relationships among science professionals and associations at all academic levels,in business/industry and science organizations.
- Provide academic and other guidance to individuals or groups of educators who are attempting to improve science education.
- Develop formal evaluative methods and organizational performance criteria of the Association.
